Teya's Story

Teya Davies was just 14 when she tragically died after slipping into Sniggy Pond in Widnes, whilst trying to help her friend who had fallen into the water before her. Although Teya could swim, she did not have the appropriate water safety knowledge to keep herself safe in the water.

Water Safety Week

On what would have been Teya Davies' 18th birthday, a group of her school friends have
worked in partnership with her family to launch a 'Water Safety Week' campaign, during March 1st to March 6th, to raise awareness of drowning prevention and water fatalities amongst young people.

"We approached Teya’s Legacy to deliver a water safety awareness session. The session was youth-led and was ran in an informative, inclusive and fun way, leaving our young people thinking about the dangers of swimming in open waters and a better understanding of what to do in an emergency situation. The feedback from our young people on the session was very positive."
